Phil Johnson was the Apple Computer representative on the Corporation for Open Systems board that created and managed

Optiv: The Business Journal for Open Systems. Phil functioned as an acquisitions editor, writer and developmental editor.

As senior technical writer for Network Technology, Marketing and Technical Support at Tymnet, Inc., Phil wrote procedural

guides and reference manuals documenting wide area networking technology for network administrators.

Phil was the editor of the New Horizons Educator’s Computer Literacy Series, Leader Guide & Participant Guide for the

Alaska State Department of Education. These publications were awarded Best Product of 1985 by the National Society for

Performance and Instruction.

Phil was the editor of the Apple III, Getting Organized, Leader Guide & Participant Guide and the Guide to Apple Horizons

Small Business and Professional Practices Sales Seminar. He also edited several operator’s guides for Apple printers.

As writer and editor for the Curriculum Development Project under the Department of Instructional

Technology at San Jose State University, Phil Johnson wrote and edited content and specified art for

instructional modules used in the national vocational training program of Saudi Arabia.

As developmental editor for Lange Medical Books, Phil conferred with authors and edited manuscripts.

He edited medical textbooks and reference books and implemented page layout for illustrations and text.
